Frequently Asked Questions
Please reach us at info@foxygroomers.co.nz , or send a message on 021 227 9878, your Christchurch based luxury Mobile Dog Grooming specialist, if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Yes. I come to your house in my mobile salon. I will need a flat surface, to park on, that will be close to your house/place of work, so I can hook up my 10m electricity cable to one of your wall sockets. I also have a circuit breaker on the electricity cable, to protect your home electrics.
The Foxy Groomers van needs a height clearance of 3m, from overhanging trees and a clear approach width wise, up any driveways. Please check and advise if there is an issue with height and width clearance, as we can look at alternatives.
This is because the Foxy Groomers van has vents on top of the roof which must not get damaged by tree branches or scratched by bushes on the approach.
If the Foxy Groomers van can not reach the area to groom, the full cost of the groom will still be charged.
I work on a one-to-one basis and I don't have a holding area for any other dogs. If you have more than one dog that you wish to be groomed, I will complete one at a time.
Costs vary depending on size of your dog, coat type, condition of the coat and behaviour of your dog. The best thing to do is to send me a text with a photo of your dog and let me know what you would like. I can then give you an estimate.
Please refer to my Policies section. There may be extra costs if your dog has a matted coat or fleas.
Travel costs:
10-15km away from us, there will be an extra $10 charge
15-20km away from us, there will be an extra $15 charge
If you have a new puppy, I usually recommend grooming to start with Foxy Groomers, soon after their 2nd vaccination. As I fully sanitise surfaces after each groom, bringing your puppy into my van will be safe, as there will be no other dogs in there at the same time. This could just be a bath and dry, to get them used to the smells, noises and the process.
You can pay by bank transfer or cash on the day of the groom.
I have shampoos that are for sensitive skin types. If you have a specific shampoo at home that you would like me to use, I am more than happy to do so.
Yes I do, with AIG.
You can send me a text message or an email with a photo of your dog, specifying what you would like, then we can set a date.
Between 1.5hrs to 2.5hrs, depending on things like their size, the condition of their coat, their behaviour and their age. For example, a puppy or elderly dog may need extra time, to give them some comfort breaks during their appointment.
This is a really good question. When you bring your puppy home, it's a great idea to start to brush, touch and handle your puppy, especially their feet, pads and legs. If you have an electric toothbrush, you can switch it on and run the handle part all over your puppy's body. This will get them used to the vibrations of the grooming clippers. You could use the back of a teaspoon to gently rub under their eyes, over the bridge of their nose and around their cheeks. This is where your groomer will be trimming their face hair.
This is a very important part of being a dog owner and it depends on the type of coat your dog has. Unless your dog has a short coat, you should aim to brush your dog every few days. If you have been to the beach or out in the bush, your dog's coat will need attention. If your dog has a very matted coat, it can cause them a lot of pain and distress.
I am happy to help teach you how to maintain your dog's coat, in-between their grooming appointments.
Yes please. You may find some of them do relate to you and it will prevent any awkwardness should any of these issues come up.
This all depends what type of coat your dog has. Once I have assessed your dog, we can create a tailor made grooming plan.
Due to the space capacity in the van and being a lone groomer, it will really depend on what breed you have, what service you wish to have and the temperament of your dog. Let's have a chat about it.
As I work by myself, it may be better to take your dog to a salon where there are more groomers that can help out. The welfare of your dog is my priority and I wouldn't want to have to end the appointment early, due to your dog being very stressed.
Due to high demand, unfortunately Foxy Groomers are unable to take on new clients at the moment.
